Official Synopsis
At 2 AM in a Jersey diner, a couple falls into a deep conversation about sacrifice. Unspoken truths surface, forcing them to confront the choices that brought them here and the ones that could tear them apart.

 
 

Director’s Statement

The film was originally a part of a series of vignettes titled “Together?” There is no context for what happens prior to the moment the audience is introduced to these characters. There’s no clear protagonist, so there’s no audience bias. All we have is the conversation and the two characters, and hopefully, by the end, the audience can see both perspectives clearly. The series also aimed to showcase a variety of different kinds of relationships without focusing on identity, as a way to humanize people of different genders and sexual orientations. “I Hate Small Talk” became its own piece because of how strong it felt.
