Making space for stories to be heard together.
Each week, we spotlight one script, cast it with local actors, and read it live in our studio at Brooklyn Navy Yard. Afterwards, the room shares honest feedback , helping writers sharpen their craft and actors deepen their voice.

WEEKLY FLOW
-
Every Thursday, two things go live:
RSVP list for next Wednesday’s read
Script submissions for the week after
You can claim your seat, submit a script, or both.
Spots are limited and the room fills fast — early moves are smart moves.→ Free RSVP
→ Writers submit scripts (max 70 pages) via our form -
Writers have until Sunday at 11:59PM EST to send in their work for the following week’s read.
-
We select one script from the submissions to be read live that week. The chosen writer is notified and confirms their spot ($30 participation fee).
Our team then casts local actors from our talent pool, and the script gets into their hands for a cold read Wednesday night.
-
Doors open at 6:00PM.
Script hits the room at 6:30PM.The energy is casual but focused — no performance, no pressure. Just honest storytelling, real voices, and a room that listens.
After the read, the floor opens up. You’re invited to share what resonated, what raised questions, and what might make the work even sharper.
-
By Friday, you’ll get a thank-you note in your inbox with a link to leave feedback for the writer — anonymously or signed. If you were moved, this is your chance to say so.

FAQs
-
You can submit short films, pilots, scenes-in-progress, or excerpts from longer features — as long as it’s under 70 pages and readable in one sitting.
-
There is a $30 participation fee if your script is selected. It helps us cover prep time, printing, space setup, and planning efforts for you and your readers.
-
We cast a small group of actors from our growing community. They’re not performing. Sometimes we rotate actors in real time for longer scripts or specific scenes.
If you’re a writer who wants to read a role yourself, let us know when you submit.
-
We take creative ownership and trust seriously. All selected scripts are read in a closed, in-person setting — never shared publicly, recorded, or distributed. Your script is only shared with the selected cast and team for that week's read.
To ensure full respect for your work, we issue NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) to all actors, team members, and participants involved in the Table Read. This helps protect your intellectual property and reinforces the creative integrity of the space.
-
Right inside Slight Breeze Studios, located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Building 77. We’ll send exact directions and studio access instructions once you RSVP or are confirmed to attend.
-
We review every submission carefully. If it’s not selected this week, we may keep it in consideration for future reads (up to 4–6 weeks). You’re also welcome to revise and resubmit at any time.
-
Absolutely. These reads are open to creatives, founders, filmmakers, students, anyone curious about storytelling, collaboration, or the process behind the work. We love a good mix in the room.
-
For now, yes — Table Reads are in-person only and take place at our studio in Brooklyn. If your script is selected, we highly encourage you to attend so you can hear your work read live, be part of the room, and receive real-time feedback.
That said, you don’t need to live in NYC full-time — you just need to be available to attend on the night of the read (Wednesdays, 6:30–9:00PM). If you're visiting, passing through, or willing to make the trip, you’re welcome to submit.
We may explore virtual or hybrid reads in the future, but right now the magic is in the room.
